Legal Assistant, Litigation Resource / Float

Our valued national law firm client is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant for a full-time position, to provide resource vacancy relief for legal assistants and related overflow and project work within the litigation department.

 Essential Functions + Responsibilities:

  • Provide desk coverage for legal assistants during absences and vacations in the litigation department
  • General administrative assistance such as maintaining the lawyer’s calendar, (i.e., coordinating and scheduling meetings and appointments), and drafting routine correspondence
  • Drafting, proof-reading, formatting, converting, and editing a variety of legal documents
  • Prioritizing workflow to ensure completion of accurate work within established timelines
  • Conducting due diligence searches and review materials, as required
  • Printing and scanning documents for signing/reporting
  • Maintaining an organized documentation and file management system
  • Time entry and preparing accounts

Qualifications + Competencies:

  • Legal Assistant Diploma from a recognized post secondary institution
  • 3+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant in Civil and/or Commercial Litigation is preferrable
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; excellent multi-tasking abilities
  • Detail-oriented individual with sound proofreading skills
  • A team player, proactive and willing to pitch-in, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Independent worker, able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Motivated to excel and open to working outside area(s) of expertise, with a willingness to learn new skills
  • Able to set own priorities while maintaining flexibility
