Position Summary
We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Real Estate Legal Assistant with a minimum of five (5) years of experience. The successful candidate will independently manage the daily activities of their lawyer(s)’ practices. The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform all administrative duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billings, email and calendar management, coordinating meetings, initiate and answer correspondence, processing expense reports etc.
- Drafting documents for Real Estate conveyancing / corporate / commercial transactions including, mortgages, trust letters, closing books and due diligence
- Coordinate flow of information and of work; initiating follow-up as required
- Organize and maintain client files; direct communication with clients and lenders
- Access and use online resources (CORES, SPIN & PPR)
- Various other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of standard searches in Real Estate transactions and experience interpreting mortgage instructions
- Experience drafting documents for a purchase, sale and mortgage
- Meticulous, detail-oriented and top-notch accuracy in completion of work
- Aptitude to learn concepts and new tasks quickly
- Confident presenting clarity questions in a professional and courteous manner
- Work well under pressure, while reliably multi-tasking in the face of demanding deadlines
- Unwavering first-rate customer service, for internal and external client(s)
- Excellent team spirit, supportive of teammates, with flexible attitude is imperative
- Self-driven with personal initiative and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Education + Experience:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of software + Office 365
- Legal Assistant Diploma and minimum of 5 years experience in a Commercial Real Estate environment
